Having a plentiful harvest is every farmer and home gardeners greatest wish. There is nothing better than having a basket full of yummy fruits and vegetables to feed to your family, especially if it came fresh from your back yard! Eggplants are especially popular with home gardeners because they are easy to grow and the harvests are normally quite plentiful. A really frustrating problem that some gardeners have is when the plant grows nicely and flowers are plentiful but the fruit never sets. If you are running into this problem, you may be experiencing a lack of pollination in your garden.
Depending on the area you live it can be hard to keep pollinators in your garden. Many of us need to buy as many bee and butterfly loving flowers as we can in order to keep them coming! But sometimes, you need to take matters into your own hands. I find this especially true with eggplants. Every year my eggplants blossom the most beautiful lavender flowers. There are so many flowers I can barely count them all. While I can appreciate a beautiful flower, it is eggplants that I want!
